🧠 Ability System Guide

Ability EXP, Ability Points, and Paragon Mastery (Discipline / Elements / Endurance / Technique)

🎯 What is the Ability System?

After (or alongside) normal character leveling, Mir Evolved has a second progression track called Ability Mastery. You can feed kill/quest EXP into Ability Experience instead of character EXP, gain Ability Levels, earn points, and spend them in the Ability Mastery (Paragon) UI on combat, elemental, defense, and utility stats.

🔀 Normal EXP vs Ability EXP

📈

Normal EXP Mode

Kill / quest EXP fills your character level bar (default mode).

🧠

Ability / Mastery EXP Mode

The same EXP sources fill your Ability Level bar instead — you stop gaining character EXP while this is on.

⌨️

Toggle

Type @EXPERIENCESWITCH in chat, or use the EXP: Normal / EXP: Mastery button in the Mastery UI.

💡

Tip

Use Normal EXP while pushing character level. Switch to Mastery EXP when you want Ability Levels and Paragon points.

📊 Ability Level & Points

1

Start

New characters begin at Ability Level 1 with 0 Ability Points.

2

Level Up

Each Ability Level requires Ability EXP from AbilityExpList.ini (levels go up to 500 on default configs).

3

Earn Points

Every Ability Level grants +1 point toward the Mastery pool. Total spendable Mastery points ≈ Ability Level − 1.

4

Spend in Safe Zone

Allocate ranks in Ability Mastery while standing in a Safe Zone, then Save.

📈 Example Ability EXP thresholds (defaults may vary by server)

  • Level 1 → 2: 500 Ability EXP
  • Around Level 10: ~2,400
  • Around Level 50: ~1,200,000
  • Higher levels scale up sharply (table goes to 500)

🏛️ Ability Mastery (Paragon) Tabs

Open from Character → Mastery → Open Mastery (“ABILITY MASTERY”). Points are shared across four tabs. Defaults: 1 point per rank, max 50 ranks per stat, usually +1 flat or +1% per rank.

⚔️

Discipline

Attack Speed, Critical Chance, Critical Damage, Luck

🌟

Elements

PvE Damage %, PvP Damage %, Holy, Ice, Fire, Force

🛡️

Endurance

Health %, Physical Defense %, Magical Defense %, Health Recovery

🎯

Technique

Freezing, Poisoning, Magic Resistance, Poison Resistance, Reflect Chance

📌 Budget example

At Ability Level 100 you have 99 Mastery points total, split across the four tabs (e.g. roughly 25 / 25 / 25 / 24 depending on how the client divides them).

🔗 Elements Tab & Skills

Investing in Fire / Ice / Force / Holy here raises those character elemental stats. Skills that use elemental bonuses (see the Skills guide) gain flat adds from these stats — e.g. Thrusting from Force, FireBall from Fire, Healing from Holy.

Poison Attack is a separate gear/stat path for poison skills; Technique covers Freezing / Poisoning chance-style ranks.

♻️ Resets

🔄

Reset Tab

In Mastery UI, Reset Tab refunds ranks on the current Paragon tab (free). Re-spend and Save in a Safe Zone.

⌨️

@RESETABILITYPOINTS

Refunds legacy flat Ability Point spends (Safe Zone). Does not reset Paragon / Mastery tab ranks — use Reset Tab for those.

⌨️ Commands & How to Open

Use these chat commands (type in chat with @). Commands are not case-sensitive.

Ability System Commands

  • @EXPERIENCESWITCH — Toggle Normal EXP ↔ Ability / Mastery EXP
  • @RESETABILITYPOINTS — Refund legacy Ability Point investments (must be in a Safe Zone)
  • Open Mastery UI — Character window → Mastery page → Open Mastery
  • Also toggle EXP mode from the Mastery dialog’s EXP: Normal / EXP: Mastery button
  • GM only: @GIVEABILITYPOINT [player] amount

💡 Tips

  • 🧠 Plan before Save — Paragon changes need a Safe Zone; Reset Tab if you mis-spend
  • 🌟 Elements for skills — Fire / Ice / Force / Holy help the matching skills on the Skills guide
  • ⚔️ Discipline for DPS — Crit and Attack Speed are popular combat picks
  • 🛡️ Endurance for survival — HP% and defenses help when Injuries and hard content matter
  • 📈 Don’t forget to switch back — if Mastery EXP is on, you won’t gain character levels
